Hello!

Artifactuality welcomes you to Summer 2010, and  our long over due "surfs up on the remote, e-mail blast." We've been catching the creative wave with projects that mountain bike in the snows of Kilimanjaro, and gives the inventor of Jell-o his full well deserved recognition with a new documentary about his life...  But right off the bat (yes we did some baseball work also) if you happen to be surfing the channels with your remote on Wedneday June 9th, tune into MTV and see the graphics package Aritfactuality produced for the "Fresh Meat 2 Reunion."  We poured a lot of creative juice into this refreshing analog julep, and think it is a lot of fun. Read more about it below............

MTV's FRESH MEAT 2 REUNION
Premieres Wednesday, June 9th at 11pm

Artifactuality has just completed the aniamted title graphics package for MTV's Fresh Meat 2 Reunion. The latest edition to the successful and immensely popular Real World/Road Rules franchise is chock full of competitive challenges, back stabbing secret alliances, relational makeups/makeouts while riding the wild rollercoaster toward the final battle for the  $200,000 prize... It all takes place on the breathtaking back drop of the Canadian  Rockies in British Columbia.

Artifactuality, saw the series' eye-popping aerial landscape, the young and very motivated contestants, and then created "The Surreal World of Fresh Meat 2," where the totems are as big as  mountains, wild and domestic creatures pair up with Lumberjacks and Lumberjanes, and the Big Hands take control of the game...

This project, inspired by Canada and brought to you via the great stuff at Tony's Traintown, was a creative process which utilized all aspects of our production toolbox – concept development, model design, illustration, photofilming (our new made-up word for the style) and, finally, to post
production compositing and music remix... It was a lot of fun!

Tune in Wednesday, June 9th at 11pm to watch it in action on MTV. Check out the full :30-second "art director's cut" on our new YouTube channel by clicking on the image. If you are interested in the creative process, see the photo case study in our Facebook page.

Peter Cooper may not be a familiar name to many Americans but in fact he has had a very large impact on New york City as well as the history of the United States. An inventor and industrialist that brought the world things as diverse as Jell-O and the iron structural I-beam, Peter Cooper was also a visionary in his views on the great issues of his day that formed the America that we now live in. He gave Lincoln the venue he needed to win him his party's nomination for president in 1860, ran for President himself in 1876, and, dearest to Artifactuality's heart, built the college that nurtured Christine and her incredible art & design skills--Cooper Union.  Artifactuality, aimed at giving back to the great institution, volunteered to help design the DVD packaging for "Mechanic to Millionaire: The Peter Cooper Story," which will air on PBS this fall. This film was produced and directed by Janet Gardner, another Cooper Union alumna. Find out more about this film and about the man at www.petercooperstory.com

Rory Mcguinness is a young bicyclist from Great Britain who organized an incredible journey to raise money and awareness to the plight of street children in Africa. His energy and passion raised over £19,000 for streetinvest.org on his trip on bicycle from Dar el Salaam Tanzania by way of Kilamanjaro to Narobi Kenya. Artifactuality helped this charity effort by creating animated maps for the video that documented this incredible trek. See the 3-part video, titled with "CFSC" (Cycling for Street Children) on our YouTube channel under "favorites".  Click here to learn about Street Invest and how to donate to this worthy cause.

Some people search for the meaning of life at the top of a mountain in Tibet, others... PLAY BASEBALL!

In these state budget slashing times we live in, Artifactuality helped the Montclair HS Baseball Booster Club raise money by designing and prinitinig the 20 page program for a fund raising dinner and silent auction this January that featured 3 alumni speakers who had made it to the top of the baseball mountain: Len Coleman, Earl Williams, and Dale Berra.

The team went 19-11 this season and made it to the state semi-finals. Go Mounties!

And that's all for now!  Hope you enjoyed our little update... Until next time, ciao!
